Vodaphone Chief Slams Crappy Games

June 27th, 2005 | by amarfresh |

Moconews.com reports that Vodaphone content boss slammed the publishers and developers of mobile games. “I’m still amazed after three years at Vodafone to see some fantastic licenses with really terrible games,” he said. “Some of these games, even now, are really rubbish.” “Consumers aren’t mugs,” he concluded. “They won’t keep buying games if they’re that crap!”

I can only agree with him. I’ve seen some great titles with horrible gameplay. And some horrible titles with even worse gameplay. Granted, controls, processing power, memory, graphics capability, and screen size all limit mobile gaming; but look at Snake. Nokia’s Snake, as simple as it was, is a great game!!! With all the new technology pouring into handsets let’s hope the next gen games are more promising. Mobile developers can also take some lessons from Nintendo. Why can’t we have mobile games which play as well as the original Game Boy? The [GameBoy Micro was just announced](http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000520043660/); perhaps Nintendo will license their GameBoy technology to a cell phone manufacturer so we can all have quality mobile games.
