The Price of Ringtone Fame

June 30th, 2005 | by amarfresh |

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but BetaNews reports that there is an official investigation by the British Government into the sales practices for the Crazy Frog ringtone. Jamster and their messaging provider, MBlox are the focus of this investigation which seems to have been spurned by accusations that the companies are duping children.

Consumers who attempt to download the ringtone may be also purchasing a 3 pound per week subscription plan, which is equivalent to about USD $20 per month. However, MBlox does not make it clear that the ringtone is part of a subscription service.
