Ziff Davis Mobile Gaming Research Differs from NPD

* Average mobile gaming session; ZD:19 minutes vs. NPD: 11 minutes
* Main reason for not adopting mobile gaming; ZD:small screen size vs. NPD: too expensive
Other statistics cited in the Ziff survey were that mobile gamers have spent an average of $13 on games in the last 60 days, and that 50% of gamers plan to buy a new phone in the next year. The Ziff survey also provided hard numbers for the install base of game-capable mobile phones; the 2005 total was 27.9 million households, compared with 2004’s 16.3 million.
