September 14th, 2005 | by amarfresh |En route from Jakarta to Padang, West Sumatra, an airline passenger who used a mobile phone may have disrupted the planes navigational system, forcing the pilot to land the plane at a different airport. This as reported by The Jakarta Post.
News from that part of the world is always reliable.

Bullshit! The pilot just spaced out or just enteedr the wrong flight plan (to wrong airport) into the flight computer. If you read the news, the pilot landed on the “old” airport, which had been closed since last July 21st. You would expect cellphones, if any, to cause interference, making the instruments go crazy, but NOT give good information about another airport. In think the pilot has used the cellphone as an excuse for his STUPID mistake — unbelievable! That is not right….

Is that the right link? I don’t see any mention of phones in that story.

It was there, I swear. They apparently have updated the story. They even changed the headline.
A ha! Click the “printer friendly” link at the bottom of the story. Also see Google’s cache of yesterday’s homepage.
And, in case they correct the “printer friendly” function, here is a link to the screenshot.
