T-Mobile Boss: “Mobile will be the centre of the Internet.”
November 29th, 2005 | by amarfresh |T-Mobile CEO, Rene Obermann, compared “mobile internet haters” to the analysts who predicted that mobiles would only be adopted by a quarter of consumers.
The T-Mobile boss, however, announced some pretty bold predictions himself. “To date, Internet traffic has been fixed line,” he said. “Mobile will be the centre of the Internet.”
“The growth of data and Internet traffic will displace fixed line,” he added.
I agree with him. Although, in order for this to happen the carriers must empower the user (with tools and affordability) to make the mobile the center of the internet. This means opening gardens, playing with Wi-Fi/Bro/Max technologies, and not-crippling phones.
