Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Boost Mobile

A few weeks ago, CSI users felt slighted when they cross-promoted Coldplay ringtones in a CSI:NY episode. Hoping to break new ground, the episode and producers only drew criticism for the ringtone product placement.

CSI:NY’s audience may not be the ringtone industry’s target market, but Aqua Teen Hunger Force is. Last Sunday, (8/11) Aquateen’s producers went over the top promoting Boost Mobile. They used gratuitous logoing, Boost adverspeak dialog, and even created two Boost Mobile phone characters. It was hysterical to hear Master Shake constantly saying the Boost moniker, “Where you at?” while constantly promoting Boost. Not ashamed of their promotion, the stars of the show openly admit to taking large amounts of money to promote Boost mobile. Ultimately the well-written humor of the entire show made your forget the obnoxious product placement.

I dare say that this is a first for any television show; animated or not.
