MBlox Pays for Jamster Ad Plays

December 20th, 2005 | by amarfresh |

(I had to make it rhyme.)

By now we are all familiar with Jamster’s legal battles due to misleading advertisements. If not, click the previous link and read. Anywho, it appears that in the ICSTIS, UK’s mobile premium service regulator, has fined MBlox, not Jamster, $70k and ordered them to pay refunds to 338 people who complained.

Will Jamster get their comeuppance as well? Hopefully. Does this put an onus on MBlox to police their clients? Hopefully. They should realize that they are in this business for the long haul and need to preserve their integrity. Will MBlox appeal? Probably. Is the $70k fine a drop in their collective buckets? Definitely. Are users who did not complain elgible for a refund? Definitely not.

IDK about you, but to me it’s looking more like a slap on the wrist than a fine which will perpetuate a change of business practices.
