Answers to all your questions - only $.49/each

An interesting PR-spun piece on CNET pointed me to a (relatively) new cell-phone concierge service - AskMeNow.com. For $.49 you can ask them practically any question; sports scores, stock quotes, driving directions, 411 info, etc.

“They call wanting to know which airports have the cleanest bathrooms,” Cohen chuckled. “The questions we get are off the charts. They want to know where the cool people hang out in San Francisco, or where in Los Angeles are the best places to see celebrities. If I told you how many times we’ve been asked why the sky is blue it would blow you away.”

There are so many cell phone information services (free and fee) these days it seems that marketing will drive initial success. However, usability and value proposition should eventually weed out the bandwagoners. 4INFO.com (44636) is still, IMHO, the best service out there for cell phone information. It is quick, easy to use and free. I can see the value of AskMeNow for accessing information which is not readily available via public information networks. Ultimately, all these services should be looking over their shoulder at Google’s forever increasing mobile offerings.
