Opera Mini Goes 2.0

Missed this yesterday…

The premier mobile browser OperaMini has been upgraded to 2.0. I have already downloaded it on my Sprint phone and am very impressed (so far). Here’s my 5 minute review:

The menuing system is intuitive and easy to use. Simple visual enhancements such as screen wiping during forward and back navigation gives the browser a organic feel. If you want your Google Home Page to appear properly you need to point to www.google.com/xhtml. Apparently, most websites think Mini 2.0 is a full PC browser. Navigation is fast. Users have the option to download images in a lower res, bandwidth saving format. Both methods render graphics clearly. Image handling is superb as well, allowing the user to easily choose to download any image or zoom and and look at the original version. (Unfortunately downloading and the ability to save images is handset/carrier dependent.)The startup screen provides easy access to input a new URL, Google’s search, Wikipedia, your bookmarks and history of last pages visited.

Go get it… it still beats the pants off of any OpenWave or carrier installed browser I’ve seen.
