PayPal Drives Mobile Adoption with Cash Giveaways
May 19th, 2006 | by amarfresh |(Don’t know why i didn’t notice this before.) On my daily read of Gizmodo I noticed an ad for PayPal Mobile. It looks like they are hoping to increase mobile payment adoption by giving cash giveaways for signing your cell phone up to PayPal.
Adding the service was quite easy. On the web you add your phone number and create a mobile pin. For verification, the PayPal system will actually call your phone and prompt you to enter your pin. Anytime you make mobile payments, the system will call you and request a pin.
Signing up is free, the game runs till June 6, and everyone has a shot at winning a piece of the $500,000. (Only 50 lucky winners will win the grand prize of $1000.)
