44% of music phones owners have never transferred music files to their phone

The article doesn’t offer much of an explanation for the statistic, although I would have expected that number to be even greater. It is my opinion that most users don’t know how to transfer music to their phones, let alone know that their phone is capable of playing music. An analyst goes on to say:
“Streaming music, which could be marketed like satellite radio, holds the most interest of all mobile multimedia for consumers, and may be easier to deliver than video,” said In-Stat analyst David Chamberlain.
With mobile broadband ubiquity, devices won’t need to have massive storage capability. Perhaps this is what the carriers are banking on; because they certainly aren’t educating people on how to get music onto thier cellphones outside of their proprietary music stores. Afterall, they aren’t making additional ARPU on device sales.
