In October, David Baker, a music professor at Indiana University, will conduct the Concertino for Cellular Phones and Orchestra at the Chicago Sinfonietta. The instruments for the 15-minute “concerto” are audience members’ cell phones, or, more accurately, the ringtones.

Red and green lights will flash to prompt the audience to play their ringtones, the louder the better I’m assuming. Baker remarked the concerto will reflect the “wonderful balance” between order and chaos in society.
