Pretty phones for pretty girls!

Boost Mobile, the wireless provider with street cred out the hizzy (“Where you at?”), has released a new Motorola i835 handset in two delish flavors designed to appeal to female customers. The purple one sports a discreet floral design that wouldn’t look out of place on the hood of a low-rider. The white handset is adorned with “frost and ice” striping and “disco lights.” Yes, girls, this is what you’ve been waiting for!

Boost is under the impression offering a purple-colored phone is a big deal. The company claims it’s the only of its kind on the U.S. market. (As opposed to, say, the Asian market where approximately 14-39% of cell phones are purple.) Boost calls their new handsets “sassy, sweet, and female-friendly” and come pre-loaded with “feminine wallpapers” (their words, not mine).

Gina Scollick, the designer responsible for the floral pattern on the purple phone, said this about Boost’s offerings: “The design[s] were created for a diverse group of individuals with various tastes and life stories — the diversity and uniqueness of each individual is what inspires my work.”

If producing cell phones in a funky color palette for the mass market doesn’t scream diversity and uniqueness, then I don’t know what does.
