Phonezoo: YA Mobile Content Sharing Community
November 17th, 2006 | by amarfresh |or YA Napster for mobile content.
Unlike other 3G file sharing communities, this one has all the copyrighted material on their homepage for your consumption.
Personally, it’s all fair use until you upload it to a website and don’t indicate that it is copyrighted material.
Phonezoo relies on the users to indicate whether the file is under copyright (which I guess they can use themselves as ‘fair use’ ) or is in the public domain. “We expect that they’ll be honest for a couple of reasons,” said Jim Mansfield, VP of marketing. “When they register on the site we know who they are through their phone number, and they can be identified if they share a copyrighted file.”
They appear to be hoping to reach a critical mass of subscribers before the lawyers intervene. Like Napster or Kaazaa, people will use the site while it still has a use for them. Then what?
Git it while the gittin is good!
