Over 1,000,000,000 Served (in 2020)

A think tank in Beijing has reported that by the year 2020, approximately 80 percent of China’s population, or one billion people, will be cell phone users. And here I thought seeing practically everybody standing in line at Starbucks yakking on a cell phone was excessive.
Lin Yifu, director of the China Center for Economic Research at Peking University, said there’s 440 million cell phones currently in use in China, and the country will produce roughly the same amount in 2006. So what’s that mean in cash money? Well, China exported 210 million cell phones in the first half of 2006, generating $13.3 billion U.S. dollars in sales. Made in China? Hell, yeah!
