CPA Empire and Mobile Sidewalk Team Up On Ringtone Fraud - ShoeMoney™
February 22nd, 2007 | by amarfresh |Shoemoney has a great video of the Zapster/MobileSidewalk ringtone signup process where they are auto-checking a terms and condition box and in a new twist of uncompliancy: auto-submitting the form when the user finishes entering their phone number.
The user never affirmatively checks the Terms and Condition box nor does s/he ever need to press the submit button.
This is not even mentioning that the site is titled “Totally FREE !”
In case you don’t know… the word “FREE” shall not be used to market ringtone subscription services which are in fact, not free at all.

I have been charged for this, and they didnt give a contact number so that i can not be charged anymore. I did not receive ringtones either!!!!
But, however, I am still billed 9.99 every month for something that was suppose to be totally free. Please help.

I just got stung too…as Verizon caught up with a $70 bill for all seven months of Mobile Ringtone service at once.
Regina at Mobile Sidwalk 800-375-0620 x 231 agreed to refund $30 of it but this is a major scam as they could not prove that I ever signed up for it either which I did not.
I complained to the Consumer Protection Agency and would encourage you to too.
