Google Launches Free 411-like Talking Search Engine

I often use Google SMS for local search when out and about. Its fast and accurate. In New York City, it has come through big time in those “i know it’s around here somewhere” situations.

Enter Google411. Another download-free “mobile search” option from Google.

The new service can be reached at 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone. Unlike Free411, which already has over 6% market share, it is not currently ad supported. However, as the platform evolves, a pairing with Google’s on demand radio ad service seems sensible.

Reviews thus far for the automated service have been mixed.
