iGripe - iPhone apps stopped working again, software update just in time
August 19th, 2008 | by amarfresh |Invariably my iPhone apps stopped working and my ipod was reporting no music…again.
I started a restore and much to my delight… there is a new version of the iphone software- 2.0.2!
Lets hope that this helps my Jesus Judas device.
UPDATE 1: The upgrade of the software did not help my application crash problem.
UPDATE 2: IPhone crashes/freezes in the middle of overnight sync. Got to letter M of my 30 ir so applications. Power cycle needed. (apps work!, music didn’t sync :( ). Reinitiating sync… now iTunes wants to do a full backup of my empty iPhone.
UPDATE 3: I’m running late for work now as I wait for the apps to sync. It is 9:09, my previous update was about an hour ago. Looks like I won’t have time to add music.
UPDATE 4: Everything was working fine until I restarted my iPhone b/c it was having trouble at the app store. Once again my iPhone reports no music and apps don’t work. (Functionality didn’t even last 12 hours. :( Looks like I’ll be playing my DS on the subway.)

Suddenly my apps all stopped working. Was sitting around playing with some new ones I’d downloaded today…took a break to eat…came back and they were starting up but quickly switched back to the home screen. No good!

I’ve had the same problem. Three times in the past 7 days, all my apps suddenly stopped working (and iPod showing no content). This is absurd. It’s been a nightmare to get the phone functional again. Firstly, the backup got corrupt, so I lost stuff. Secondly, if you do a backup *after* the apps stop working, you can’t restore the phone using that backup because it restores the app problem!
The second time this happened (couple days ago), it took me FOUR restores to get a functioning iPhone because the restores kept freezing before completion. I’d have to hard-reset the phone; and even though all the apps seemed to be there and were opening ok (strange…), I didn’t want to risk using a half-restored phone… so I initiated another one. I don’t even remember if the 4th one completed… I think I may have just given up.
Oh, by the way… my phone is in the process of restoring right now, again…

I have iphone apps that were installed and working, and unpredictably quits working, and then sometimes works again after restart, eg power down and up, but sometimes don’t what makes it work, like right now

I think that Apple uses the term “fix” as in, I’m going to go fix something for dinner. Let’s see what the cook up next!

Same issue here — started a couple days ago with the same symptoms; all third-party apps will load their splash screen then quit.
